1. DTP Fundamentals & Design Basics
- Introduction to DTP, its purpose, and role in print media.
- Principles of Design: Elements (line, shape, color), layout, composition, balance.
- Typography: Font selection, spacing (kerning, leading, tracking), text hierarchy.
- Color Theory: RGB vs. CMYK, color harmony, psychology, application.
2. Core DTP Software Skills
- Adobe Photoshop: Image editing, retouching, layers, masks, color correction, GIF creation.
- CorelDRAW: Vector drawing, shapes, artistic tools, designing flyers, business cards.
- Adobe InDesign: Page layout, master pages, text flow, tables, creating magazines, books.
- Adobe PageMaker/QuarkXPress (Optional/Older): Basic page layout and publishing.
3. Publication Creation & Techniques
- Text Handling: Importing, formatting, styles, columns, text flow.
- Image Handling: Importing, editing, file formats (raster/vector), resolution.
- Layout & Templates: Setting up documents, master pages, templates for various projects.
- Project-Based Learning: Designing brochures, letterheads, menus, magazines.
4. Printing & Output
- Printing Concepts: DPI, resolution, paper types, print processes (offset, digital).
- Pre-Press: Bleed, margins, trim marks, color calibration, proofing.
- Exporting: Creating print-ready PDFs, JPEGs, EPS files.
- Digital Publishing: Interactive PDFs, web visuals (optional)
